A9 Toolbar for Firefox & Everyone
A9推出Firefox專用的Browser Toolbar，其實無怎特別，一來功能方面已經有不少人介紹過；另一方面出Browser Toolbar已經是很多網站的「家常便飯」。
不過推出Firefox版本的Toolbar卻令筆者有點感想。大部份網絡服務都只出IE版的Toolbar，這也很正常，因為IE暫時仍很多人使用，市場佔有率依然大大超越其他對手。即使如此，這些服務不應不顧其他瀏覽器。事實上，Firefox在這個年頭來勢洶洶，不少人為Firefox編寫過很多的Unofficial Toolbar，但Official Toolbar就鮮有其聞。
A9推出Firefox專用的Toolbar。一時間，不論是PC、Mac甚至Linux版本的Firefox用戶都可以享用到其服務。無他，Mozilla Foundation應用XPI這種跨平台的延伸組件，方便程式設計人員編寫跨平台的應用軟件。因此，他們的Extension多不用註明是PC專用。Firefox就是一個好的平台。不像IE那般，通常只有PC版的瀏覽器外掛程式，而要開發其他版本就要另費氣力。
其實Microsoft的專制又何止於此。你大可試試找此Word Document來試試轉成HTML，你就知道原來HTML與Microsoft Proprietary HTML之間原來有一個很大的分別。這也難怪Macromedia要在Dreamweaver加入Clean Word HTML之類的功能。
要讓更多人享用到你的服務，選擇一種公開而且跨平台的方式來作業是最有效率的途徑。這次A9的Toolbar又何只是for firefox呢，應該說是for anyone。不論你用任何OS，只要下載Firefox便可以享用其服務了。
